Defence children are welcomed warmly and are valuable members of our school community. Our Defence transition aide was a child of a defence family herself so is aware of the issues faced by children of defence families. She pays particular attention to their friendships and is always available to parents if they want to have a chat. Our aide understands the uniqueness of the Defence family and works hard to ensure transitions and their time at Wodonga West is inclusive.
Every year our Student Leadership Council sell ANZAC mementos and also poppies in November. We always have a large contingent of students and families who walk behind our banner and oversized Australian flag in the local March on April 25th each year. Our School Captains and/or students from Defence Families respectfully lay a wreath during the ANZAC Day service.
