Student Leadership

Our Student Leadership Council members are elected by their peers at the beginning of each school year and are expected to wear their badges throughout the year. Potential members are required to give a speech to their peers before election. We also have a House system throughout the school (Fire- red, Water-blue and Earth- green) . Each house elects two leaders who lead their House at multi-age events and assist with tallying weekly yard rewards.

In addition, two School Captains are elected by staff following a self-nomination process at the beginning of the year. The School Captains provide a letter of Welcome in our Information pack and often help out at public events or when there are important visitors to the school.

Amongst the activities that Student Leadership Council members are involved in are:

  • Junior SLC meetings
  • Organising two external and 2 internal fundraising events each year
  • Attending School Council twice a year to give a report
  • Publicising events around the school and in the Linkletter
  • Lead and assist at assemblies

In 2017 Student Leaders have been involved in a Federation initiative of training and as part of this trained staff in an element of interest to them.

Our student leaders have been working with other leading students from across Wodonga’s Federation of Government Schools at a series of workshops over the year. Take a look at this short clip showcasing their involvement.
